The 'u' in Thomas More's coinage 'utopia' is a pun that couples the Greek prefixes 'eu' and 'ou', yielding, for the word as a whole, a dual translation: good-place and no-place. Normally this clever conjunction is read to mean simply that the socially good place doesn't presently exist - it's an ideal to strive for. But a second, unintentional, meaning also lurks here, camouflaged against the first: Life in a fixed location is antithetical to the social good. The good inheres in mobility.
